In an MTV UK interview promoting her new film It Ends with Us with co-star Isabela Ferrer, Blake Lively shared that it wasn’t until she met her husband, Ryan Reynold,s, that she grew to appreciate the unusual middle name her mother gave her. During the interview, Ferrer tried to recall Lively’s unique middle name and asked if she had mentioned it before. Lively admitted she doesn’t often talk about it
What is Blake’s unusual middle name?
In an Instagram video shared by a music television network, Ferrer attempted to recall Blake Lively’s unconventional middle name but struggled. Lively, who rarely discusses her middle name, provided a hint to Ferrer by saying the first part of her middle name is related to writing diary entries.
Ferrer guessed “Ellen,” which was partially correct but not the full name. When Ferrer tried other guesses like “Elenor” and “Elenora,” Lively indicated they were close but ultimately revealed that her middle name is “Ellender.”
In the interview, Blake said, “It’s not a name,” and she explained “I believe my mother might have come up with it by mistake. It’s not an actual word or name, it doesn’t exist.
Blake disliked the name; Ryan changed that.
In the interview, Ferrer tried pronouncing her middle name again and again and mistakenly compared it to the Dumbledore from Harry Potter, to which Blake laughed out loud and said, “I’m not Dumbledore, it’s Ellender,” “Though Dumbledore honestly probably be a better option.” Lively shared that throughout her childhood, she was often puzzled and confused by her middle name, because of which she harboured a strong dislike for it during that time. During the interview, she took a moment to address the camera directly and offered a heartfelt apology to any individuals named Ellender who might be watching the interview.
Lively mentioned that initially, she didn’t like the name, but her husband had a strong affection for her middle name, which made her like and appreciate it more and more over the years. She noted that Reynolds thought the name had a resemblance to “lavender.” To which Ferrer enthusiastically agreed and remarked that the name indeed had a regal quality to it. Ferrer added that the name sounded elegant and graceful, even suggesting that it could befit a title like “Lady Ellender III.
