Kim Kardashian recently shared a heartfelt reflection on the emotional challenges of motherhood, sparking conversation about her life as a single mom. In an Instagram Story post, the SKIMS founder shared a quote about the bittersweet reality of raising children, just weeks after reports surfaced about Kanye West’s limited involvement with their four kids.
Despite having support from nannies and other staff, Kardashian has spoken candidly about the personal struggles of parenting, highlighting that, at the end of the day, her children’s well-being and emotional needs rest solely on her shoulders.
The emotional reality of single motherhood
Kim Kardashian has not been tight-lipped about the emotional struggle of being a single mother, saying things do not get any smoother, even when full support is provided in such settings as nannies and chefs. She recently revealed in an Instagram story that motherhood has a bitter-sweet nature—the preparation of getting children to fly the nest yet sharing strong emotions with them.
In fact, co-parenting motherhood with Kanye West hasn’t been all that easy on Kardashian’s part. They are said to have “equal access” to the kids, but allegedly, the rapper isn’t really interested in parenting day-to-day, and so Kardashian bears the brunt of solo parenting.
The Price of Co-Parenting During Separation
Agreed between Kim and Kanye after finalizing their divorce in November 2022, the custody is joint while the provisions regarding the cost are generous. However, as satisfying as the financial support may be, sources close to Kardashian say this does nothing to replicate active parenting. And this isn’t an easy ride for Kardashian, who still tends to stability and happiness for her kids.
But she continues to keep her focus as a mother. On the “On Purpose” podcast, when Jay Shetty interviewed Kardashian, she admitted she has times when things get so tough that she cries herself to sleep. The devotion she shows emphasizes that even in a world of fame and fortune, the emotional needs of a mother are something to which all mothers can relate.
