Kathy Hilton recently opened up about her daughter Nicky Hilton Rothschild’s childhood, recalling how Nicky, even at a young age, took her role as a “fashionista” very seriously. During a celebration for Nicky’s new collaboration with designer Rebecca Vallance, Kathy fondly remembered how Nicky would guard her closet from family and friends. This playful anecdote not only showcases Nicky’s early love for fashion but also highlights the close-knit relationship within the Hilton family.
A Fashionista from a Young Age
“She was always a fashionista,” Kathy exclaims about her daughter, who is now 41 years old. On October 5, her daughter celebrated both her birthday and the launch of her new line of clothing with Rebecca Vallance. “And starting at age six, she would stand there like this if any of my sisters or friends tried to approach. She also used to enjoy stomping about in her high heels while playing with all the purses, gowns, and outfits.”
One of Kathy’s favorite memories involves young Nicky standing guard over her closet. “If any of my friends or my sisters tried to go near, she would stand there like this,” Kathy recalled, emphasizing how protective Nicky was about her mother’s clothes. This playful behavior highlighted Nicky’s strong sense of style even as a child.
Celebrating Nicky’s Achievements
“To be able to collaborate with one of my favorite designers is really a dream come true,” adds Nicky. “I think you will see that we share a very similar aesthetic and DNA in every piece. She exudes such a lovely quality. I adore the workmanship. It’s very amazing.”
The collaboration forced Nicky and Vallance to think “outside the box,” as Nicky didn’t want to limit themselves to “jewel tones,” which is what most businesses do this time of year. The collection officially launched on October 1 and is intended for the holidays. “I wanted to include some ice blues, which is my favorite color, and winter whites,” she explains.
The origin of collaboration
According to Vallance, the collaboration originated from a girls’ night out where they bonded over margaritas. According to Vallance, “We thought it would be great to join forces for a holiday capsule collection, And I contacted several of our top retailers right away, and they immediately supported it. Thus, it has been a lot of fun.” the sources said.
She continued saying “Since both Nicky and I have design backgrounds, it goes without saying that when we created this collection, we intended for it to be smaller, and everyone eventually accepted it. Therefore, it’s already going pretty well, and we’ve had a great time doing it. It has never seemed like labor. We have cherished every moment of it.”
She claims that in order to bring this idea to reality, they have been on innumerable Zoom and Skype calls over the past year, and they are both ecstatic to release it into the world. Regarding the effort that Nicky has made, Vallance is all positive.
“We have such respect for one another and such a healthy friendship that we just kind of challenged each other constantly on the collection,” Vallance explains. It’s incredibly well-rounded, and in my opinion, it embodies both 50% of her and 50% of me. Some collaborations, in my opinion, just have people’s names on them. This is not at all the case. Rebecca Vallance currently has the collection available.
