Now that the series ended in 2019 after running for 12 seasons, the cast has remained close through the years. Cuoco recently expressed her gratitude to this day, saying, “I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career. I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre.”
Fans Hope for a Reboot While Cast Shares Mixed Feelings
While fans have been begging for a reboot of The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons already voiced doubt about doing so again. “As we sit here now, no,” he mentioned to Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace in October. He elaborated, “It was so special as what it was. And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason, and you can be certain it wouldn’t be that.” While Parsons didn’t completely rule out the idea, he admitted, “Why would we be doing it? I don’t know, that’s how I feel on that right now.”
On the other hand, Cuoco has been more eager to reprise her role as Penny. Speaking to PEOPLE, she enthusiastically declared, “100%. I love that character, and I always will.” Cuoco reflected on her time on the show with gratitude, saying, “It was some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had.” This mix of perspectives really highlights the different emotions tied to revisiting one of television’s most beloved sitcoms.
