Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently facing sex trafficking charges, appeared in court on Friday. His attorneys requested house arrest at his Star Island mansion in Florida. The proposed arrangement included tight restrictions to prevent any unauthorised activity.

The plan outlined strict security measures. For instance, guards would prevent any access to the dock or surrounding waters.
Additionally, Diddy would not be allowed visitors, internet, or phone access outside legal consultations. His lawyers argued these conditions were more restrictive than his current detention.
Despite the detailed proposal, the judge rejected the plan, citing concerns about ensuring compliance. However, Diddy has remained detained at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center since September.
Alternate Proposal: Upper East Side Apartment House Arrest
Diddy’s legal team also proposed house arrest at his New York City apartment. This alternative offered 24/7 on-site security, restricting him to the property. Meanwhile, two guards would monitor him inside, while another would secure the entrance.
The plan also excluded internet or phone access for personal use. Furthermore, family visits would only be allowed with prior approval and strict monitoring. Diddy’s team assured the court of the security firm’s credibility, given the high-profile nature of the case.
His lawyers argued these conditions, combined with a $50 million bond, minimised flight risk. Nevertheless, the judge denied the bail request for the fourth time.
Trial Preparation and Upcoming Decision
Diddy has been in custody since his September arrest on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all allegations. Therefore, his trial is scheduled for May 2025.
His lawyers emphasised the need for better trial preparation outside of jail. Moreover, they cited new evidence and circumstances as justification for reconsidering bail. Diddy’s mother and children attended the hearing to show their support.
A final decision on his release is expected next week. Until then, Diddy remains in detention, preparing to fight the charges. Ultimately, the case continues to draw public and media attention.
