The two actors, who have shared a close bond since their days on the iconic sitcom, touched fans with their emotional messages. Stamos, 61, took to Instagram to show his unwavering support for Coulier, 65, who was diagnosed with the “very aggressive” form of cancer in October. Despite the overwhelming news, Coulier expressed gratitude for his strong support system, including fellow “Full House” cast members, as he undergoes treatment.
John Stamos Stands By Dave Coulier After Cancer Diagnosis
In a public post, John Stamos gave a shout-out of support to his longtime friend and Full House co-star, Dave Coulier, who recently revealed his diagnosis with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. “My brother from day 1,” the 61-year-old Stamos posted on Instagram, sharing photos from a lifetime of friendship with the comedian and actor.
“Love you @dcoulier, and I’ll be by your side through it all.” Coulier was diagnosed in October after an upper respiratory infection led to severe lymph node swelling, ultimately revealing the presence of a “very aggressive” cancer.
Coulier shared with *People* how astounding the diagnosis had been. “I went from having a little bit of a head cold to having cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming.”
And still there was good news: The cancer hadn’t reached his bone marrow, so his chances were greater. “My chances of curable went from being something low to the 90 percent range. And so that was a great day,” he added relieved.
Full House Cast Bonds Over Supportive Friendship
Coulier shared that he informed his former *Full House* cast about his diagnosis because he did not want them to hear it from anyone else. “I didn’t want them to hear it from someone else, so I sent a text message out,” he explained.
Their response was heart-wrenching, with messages pouring in from his cast family, including their assurance: “I will be there. You just name the time.” Coulier reflected on their shared bond, saying, “It really is overwhelming the love that we have for each other. We’ve been there for so many years for each other, and it’s pretty remarkable.”
Stamos is going to see Coulier soon because he is getting chemotherapy. Coulier shares a touching moment, saying, “He goes, ‘If you want to just sleep, I’ll just sit by you. Or if you want to listen to music or just talk, whatever.’ And I’m just like, ‘Wow. That’s, like, a brother. That’s just truly a brother.’”
