In the latest episode of Sister Wives, Janelle Brown sheds light on why her daughter, Madison “Maddie” Brown, chose not to inform her father, Kody Brown, about her third pregnancy. Janelle, 55, explains to her former husband, also 55, that Maddie feels disconnected from him, citing his lack of involvement in her children’s lives as the reason.
This candid exchange delves into the strained relationships within the Brown family, as Kody grapples with the emotional distance growing between him and his children.
The tension further unfolds as Kody blames “jealousy and gossip” for the rift, adding another layer to the family’s ongoing conflicts on the show. Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
Kody Brown Relationship with Daughter Maddie Broke
Sister Wives season recently aired where it discusses some of the previous events which discuss Kody Brown’s breaking relation with his daughter Maddie. As if like the audience comes to understand that how the fact gets known that how the already mother of three children gets herself away from her dad. When Kody asks why Maddie did not share her pregnancy news with him, Janelle explains that her daughter feels estranged because of Kody’s lack of involvement in her children’s lives. Maddie, who has a 7-year-old son Axel, a 5-year-old daughter Evie, and a 21-month-old daughter Josephine, feels Kody hasn’t shown much interest in them, a feeling she shares by pointing out the fact that he hasn’t visited her children since Evie was born.
For Kody, the reality of being kept out of his grandchildren’s lives is incomprehensible. Even after Janelle’s candid explanation, he does not see how Maddie could keep her pregnancy a secret, considering he does not believe that there is anything wrong with what she did. In confession, he tells that he feels he is being unfairly punished, declaring that Maddie’s view of him is based on “jealousy and gossip” rather than an actual problem. This tension between father and daughter goes on and seems quite hard to reconcile as such a complex family dynamic is concerned.
A Rift of the Past Disappointments and Misunderstandings
As the episode moves along, the viewers can further understand the reason for the strained relationships between Kody and his children, whom he claims are because of misunderstanding and miscommunication. Somewhere in the earlier parts of the season, Kody had shared with Robyn that he thought Madison did it on purpose by pushing away herself and her kids from him. He recalled the moment Madison reminded him of the time Kody confessed that he “did not love” her mom. She claimed it worsened their estrangement because Kody said, “You do not love” her mom, a statement that apparently did not interest them, or perhaps a factor on why Maddie made decisions excluding him in such events in their lives.
She tells him that he needs to stay more in tune with the kids. Kody responds, “Every time he comes over to talk with Maddie, ‘gossip’ is shared in the family about him. Such scenes show that unless things are okay between him and the kids, things can keep hitting him back at times negatively, as seen in the last episodes where the journey of the family through life and time seems to have issues at different points of their lives because of such issues left unaddressed before.
