Doug Sheehan, famously known as Ben Gibson in Knot landing dies at 75. Sheehan died on June 29 at his home in Big Horn, Wyoming. The cause of the death is still not revealed.
Doug Sheehan’s Acting Career
Doug Sheehan is an American actor born on April 27,1949, in California. He began his acting career with guest roles in various television shows in 1970’s like “The Hardy Boys”, “CHiPs”and “Quincy.”
Soon Sheehan started getting viewers’ attention, working as Joe Kelly on the ABC daytime soap General Hospital in 1979.
He gained attention for his role as Ben Gibson on the famous television soap opera “Knots Landing”. Sheehan joined the show’s fourth season in 1983
and remain till 1987. Sheehan as Journalist Ben Gibson played the second husband to Joan Van Ark’s Valene Ewing, appearing in over 100 episodes.
After working in a series of TV shows, he stepped back and worked as minor characters in series like “MacGyver”, “Dear John” in the 90’s. Again, he reunited with ABC in 1997 for the series adaptation “Clueless” directed by Amy Heckerling, he was a replacement of Michael Lerner as Mel Horowitz. In addition, Sheehan has also been interviewed in theater works like “Fool For Love” and “The Real Thing”
A Polo Enthusiast
Sheehan was also interested in Polo. According to The Times in 1987, Sheehan said “ I first saw polo played at ‘Great Gatsby Day’ , a charity benefit they had at Will Rogers park a couple of years ago.”
“and I was such a sucker for the antique Rollses and the English boots I went out and signed up for polo lessons the next day” he added.
Sheehan died on June 29, at the age of 75, famous for his roles in different series and TV shows, leaving everything behind. His cause of death is yet to be found.
