Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed a new $50 million bail request as he awaits his May 2025 trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
The rapper and mogul, who has been behind bars since his September arrest, claims that new evidence and changed circumstances justify his release. This is Diddy’s fourth attempt to secure bail since his arrest. His legal team argues that the government’s case is weak and should be reconsidered.
The rapper’s attorneys are offering a more robust bail package, including strict monitoring, home detention, and limitations on contact with others, except his legal team.
Diddy’s Legal Team Pushes for Bail Based on New Evidence
Diddy’s defence team points to new evidence that they believe undermines the government’s claims. They argue the case against him is thin, particularly regarding the 2016 video of him allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie.
His lawyers contend the video is being misrepresented as part of a larger conspiracy involving “Freak Offs” – sex parties where victims were coerced.
The filing, made on November 8, includes strict terms for Diddy’s potential release, such as home detention, no access to the internet or phone, and a list of pre-approved family visitors. Additionally, Diddy would surrender passports belonging to him and his family members, a standard practice to prevent flight risk.
Timeline of Diddy’s Legal Troubles
The legal saga began in November 2023, when Cassie filed a lawsuit accusing Diddy of sexual assault and rape. The case was settled out of court the next day, but it sparked multiple lawsuits from other women.
These claims led to a raid by Homeland Security at Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles, where they sought evidence in connection to a sex trafficking investigation.
In September, Diddy was indicted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which led to his arrest. The indictment accused him of hosting and recording “Freak Off” parties, where controlled substances were allegedly used as a means of manipulation. Diddy has pleaded not guilty to the charges, denying all allegations.
