David Schwimmer is returning, and this time, he’s adding some scary moments in the latest trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing. This mix of horror and comedy, based on R.L. Stine’s famous books, will start on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10, 2025.
Schwimmer, who is usually known for funny roles, plays a more serious character in this part. He’s Anthony, a dad who’s divorced and has a secret past. In the trailer, Anthony gives his twin kids a very scary warning: “I have just one rule: don’t go into the basement.” His spooky words set the scene for a summer filled with suspense. of secrets and supernatural events.
A Family Haunted by a Dark Past
As the story progresses, Anthony’s twins, Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin (Sam McCarthy), stumble upon a troubling family secret. They discover that their uncle was one of four teenagers who disappeared in their Brooklyn neighborhood thirty years ago. This shocking revelation sets the siblings and their friends on a thrilling quest to uncover the truth behind these mysterious vanishings.
In a crucial moment, Anthony receives a package containing the clothes his missing brother wore back in 1994. When he examines the fabric under a microscope, he uncovers a disturbing finding that only raises more questions. At the same time, strange events begin to unfold around the house, intensifying the feeling of unease as the twins start to suspect that their father might be concealing something.
A Chilling Mystery with a Spiralling Plot
The trailer gives a glimpse of exciting moments when the young protagonists are more determined in looking back into the history. In one scene, a bathroom sink is filled with a dark and thick liquid which is dangerously ominous. Everybody starts eyeing Schwimmer’s character with suspicion as he may be involved in the bizarre happenings surrounding them.
Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman produced the film, which is titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing and come with added suspense thanks to the cast of Francesca Noel, Stony Blyden, Elijah M. Cooper among others. A blend of nostalgia and mystery with supernatural elements in it, the series is going to be just in time for the chills and features eight episodes that are set to start airing in January.
