Chrissy Teigen has been open about her family’s experience with Type 1 Diabetes, especially after the diagnosis of her son Miles earlier this year. On November 23, she published a post on Instagram about how her children are growing up, their humor, and the daily life of her kids, as a response to a fan’s comment requesting her to raise awareness on the condition.
Teigen confirmed that she plans to share more about their experience, noting that they are still learning and adjusting to Miles’ diagnosis. “We are still learning over here ourselves!” she said in her comment.
The model and author initially revealed Miles’ diagnosis on July 31 after fans noticed a diabetes monitor on his arm during a photo posted from the 2024 Olympics in Paris. She thanked her followers for the outpouring of love and explained the circumstances that led to Miles’ diagnosis, which came after a hospital stay due to an intestinal infection.
“Miles had his arm up, and soooo many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” Teigen wrote, expressing gratitude for the love and encouragement they received.
John Legend Opens Up on How They Were Initially Stunned and Strong as a Family
John Legend spoke to PEOPLE about how he and Chrissy reacted when Miles was diagnosed. “Chrissy was upset a little bit when she first heard it,” he said, speaking candidly about the emotional time the family had to undergo.
However, despite all this, Legend mentioned how they were determined to stick together and support Miles. “She’s been so good at learning what she needs to do,” he added, acknowledging Teigen’s commitment to understanding and managing Miles’ condition.
Legend also reflected on how the experience has strengthened their bond as a family. “My personality is one where I’m very optimistic and I’m very practical. As soon as I learned that he had this I knew it was going to be life-changing for him and for us,” he said.
