Céline Dion had fans laughing this Tuesday, November 12, as she shared a relatable moment with Siri while trying to play her new rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour.” The 56-year-old singer, who recently released a live version of the song after performing it at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was met with Siri’s insistence on playing her iconic “My Heart Will Go On” instead.
In a lighthearted video, Dion tried multiple times to cue up her latest track, even switching to a French accent to finally get Siri to cooperate, showcasing a down-to-earth charm that resonated with fans worldwide.
Siri’s Mass Delusion with Céline Dion’s Music
She posted a very funny moment on social media which involved her trying to get Siri to play her 2024 version of “Hymne à l’amour” with awful results. She said, “Hey Siri, play ‘Hymne à l’amour’ by Céline Dion?” but Siri said back, “I cannot find that track by Céline Dion but here is ‘My Heart Will Go On.’
” She certainly didn’t expect that she will get that reply because Dion exclaimed, “No! Hello,” and tried it again thinking probably this time around she will get a different answer.
Unabashed, Dion tried again by asking, “Hey Siri, could you please play ‘Hymne à l’amour’ by Celine Dion?” Again, Siri responded with “My Heart Will Go On.” If that was not funny, being sarcastic in the moment, Dion laughed at Siri and said, “Forget it!” Finally, for a final hurrah, Dion attempted to use French inflection to get Siri in line with her request.
Celine Dion Gets Siri to Play for Her after Applying French Accent
WITH a touch of irony, Céline Dion would not give an inch and barked out in a French accent, “Fine, you want ‘Hymne à l’amour’ by Celine Dion.” Only then did Siri relent and play the right track, but by then, Dion was ecstatic.
Holding up her phone in disbelief, flashing a glittering smile and giving a thumbs up, she celebrated the outcome as if it were a done deal, allowing her fans to glimpse the real person behind the playful persona.
Dion had sung the Edith Piaf classic “Hymne A L’Amour” at the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony in July, one of the biggest shows back after she announced in 2022 that she had stiff-person syndrome. She has also released in October the official live version of this iconic track.
