There was quite a commotion when internet personality Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia recently spilled some shocking details pertaining to her breakup from country singer Zach Bryan.
On the latest episode of her “BFFs” podcast, LaPaglia says Bryan’s team offered her an astonishing $12 million to sign a non-disclosure agreement and remain silent about her relationship with him and the eventual breakup. LaPaglia shared that, although the deal was tempting, she morally and self-worth ended up rejecting it.
The $12 Million Temptation: An Offer of a Lifetime
LaPaglia did not hold back on the podcast when she revealed the astronomical deal she received from Bryan’s team. After everything was done, I was approached by [Bryan’s] team and I was offered a lot of money, a big lump sum of money and a few options, LaPaglia, 25 said.
She explained that the money would have been spread over three years and included heavy monitoring conditions to ensure her silence. The podcaster admitted, “They would’ve been monitoring everything that I do.
As perhaps financially life-changing as the offer was, LaPaglia stood firm. She reminded him that, okay, Bryan is wildly successful: “Maybe I’m not going to be selling out stadiums and f—ing making hundreds of millions of dollars,” she said.
I took about a second to think about it, and I think they forget; I almost forgot that I was someone, established, successful, before [Bryan], she said, reasserting her independence and self-worth.
A Battle of Morals: Why LaPaglia Said No
Despite the allure of financial security for herself and her family, LaPaglia confessed that taking the money felt wrong. “I don’t want blood money.”.
I don’t think you can buy off people whom you hurt [and expect] for them to protect you … offering millions of dollars to this apparent beautiful relationship [and] keep it a secret, speaks volumes,” she stated, outlining her ethical dilemma.
According to LaPaglia, the predicament truly led to a “moral battle” such that she claims even Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy weighed his view on this tough situation as he exclaimed, “One hour she’d be like, ‘I’m not taking it. F–k that. I’m not taking it.’ The next hour [she’d say], ‘too much money, have to take it. How can I pass up $12 million?
Ultimately, she couldn’t live with cashing the payout in good conscience, especially after suffering what she called emotional abuse during their relationship. “From the get-go, I was like … ‘f–k you, I don’t want your money,’ but then you look at my family, who obviously doesn’t have money and comes from nothing and they’re like, ‘take the money,'” she said, acknowledging the internal struggle she endured.
“I didn’t take any money. I won’t take any money. I don’t think it’s beneath me. I don’t think that that’s f–ked up,” she concluded.
The podcaster’s final decision to walk away from the deal was a true testament of her conviction to keep herself and not sell out for the entire life-changing amount of money.
