Prince William and Kate Middleton have paid tribute to 17-year-old Liz Hatton, a talented young photographer who passed away on November 27 after a brave battle with cancer.
The royal couple had met Liz and her family earlier in October at Windsor Castle, where they helped her fulfill a bucket list dream.
In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, William and Kate expressed their sorrow, praising Liz’s courage and creativity while extending their condolences to her family during this difficult time.

Prince William and Kate Middleton took to social media to post a tribute to Liz Hatton after her death. “We are so sorry to hear that Liz Hatton has sadly passed away,” they said.
“It was an honor to have met such a brave and humble young woman.”
Their message reflected deep sympathy to Hatton’s family. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Liz’s parents Vicky and Aaron and her brother Mateo.”
The letter ended with a personal note as they signed it, “W & C.” In this letter, the couple highlighted their admiration for Liz’s strength during her last months.
They greeted Hatton and her family at Windsor Castle on 2 October. They contributed towards the completion of the young teen’s “bucket list,” as she was invited to photograph an investiture ceremony.
Liz had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer in the early year, so did Kate, who finished the chemotherapy cycle recently. A photographer from Harrogate, Liz Hatton was gifted with creativity and strength inspiring the royal couple. Liz Hatton was said to make the couple happy by providing a chance to meet such a great young girl.

Vicky Robyana announced death of her daughter, Liz Hatton, on 27th of November 2024. As Vicky wrote:
“Our incredible daughter Liz died in the early hours of this morning”.
She reflected on her daughter’s courage, saying Liz remained determined until the very end. “She remained determined to the last. Even yesterday,
she was still making plans.” Liz’s family expressed immense pride for the kindness and empathy Liz showed during her illness. “We are so very proud of the kindness, empathy, and courage she has shown this year.”
Vicky continued, praising the strength and impact her daughter left, describing Liz as a “phenomenal photographer.” She described Liz as “the best human and the most wonderful daughter and big sister,” Vicky wrote.
The family said they appreciated support from others as they acknowledged how the community made Liz’s last months special.
“You made Liz’s last two months her very best. She flew high till the end.”
Vicky’s message also called upon people to help raise funds for cancer research. A GoFundMe page was set up to support the fight against desmoplastic small round cell tumor.
