Kanye West, now known as ‘Ye,’ faces serious legal challenges as model Jenn An has filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault during a 2010 music video shoot.
An, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model, claims the incident occurred on the set of La Roux’s “In for the Kill.” She alleges that West assaulted and strangled her while filming, making disturbing comments about art during the ordeal.
Allegations of Assault
In her lawsuit, An describes being chosen by West from a lineup of models, where he allegedly said, “Give me the Asian girl.” She claims that while wearing revealing lingerie, she informed him about her outfit, to which he replied, “That’s why I chose you.”
The lawsuit details a harrowing experience where West reportedly choked her and forced his fingers down her throat while shouting phrases like “This is art” and comparing himself to Picasso.
An states that the assault lasted over a minute and felt akin to “pornographic gagging” and BDSM fetishes. She claims no one intervened during the incident, which left her feeling humiliated and traumatised.
Legal Action Against Universal Music Group
Alongside West, An has also named Universal Music Group in her lawsuit. She accuses the company of enabling gender-based violence by allowing unsafe conditions on set.
The suit alleges that UMG failed to investigate or take action against West’s behaviour, despite his history of controversial actions. An seeks compensatory and punitive damages for emotional distress and injury to her reputation.
This lawsuit adds to a growing list of legal troubles for West. Recently, he was sued by former assistant Lauren Pisciotta for drugging and sexually assaulting her at a party. As these allegations unfold, they highlight ongoing concerns about workplace safety within the entertainment industry.
Ongoing Legal Battles
Kanye West has faced multiple lawsuits in recent months, raising questions about accountability in Hollywood. The new allegations from Jenn An shed light on troubling patterns of behaviour that have emerged around the rapper.
As he continues to navigate these legal challenges, the impact on his career remains uncertain.
West has yet to respond publicly to the allegations made by An or any of the other lawsuits he faces. The entertainment industry watches closely as these cases develop, emphasising the need for safer working conditions for all artists.
