David Wilburn Parton, the older brother of country music icon Dolly Parton, has passed away at the age of 82. His sister, Stella Parton, confirmed his death on November 15, sharing heartfelt tributes across social media, including posts on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Threads. 

David, a retired bridge builder superintendent, died peacefully at his home in White Pine, Tennessee, though the cause of death has not been revealed. He was one of 11 siblings in the Parton family and is survived by his wife, daughters, and extended family.

David Wilburn Parton Dies, Sister Stella Announces End

On Friday, Nov. 15, Stella Parton, sister to David Wilburn Parton, who died aged 75, took to social media to share the news of her brother’s passing. Writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), Stella shared with her followers, “My brother David passed away peacefully this morning.” She added, “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, but he got his angel wings and is now at peace.”

In a different Facebook post, Stella stated, “It’s never easy to lose a loved one.” David died in the “early hours of the morning,” Stella confirmed, and Threads had this tribute when Stella wrote, “My brother David left us this morning. He finally got his angel wings. RIP dear soul. Love you forever.”

Dolly Parton has yet to publicly address brother’s death

To date, neither David’s 78-year-old mother, Dolly Parton, nor his sister Stella has made any public comments regarding his death. However, Stella Parton has taken to social media to offer condolences. The family obituary said that David died at his home in White Pine, Tenn., on Friday, November 15 but did not state a cause of death.

Dolly made a statement after the loss of her brother Randy in 2021, saying, “My brother Randy has lost his battle with cancer. The family and I are grieving his loss but we know he is in a better place than we are at this time.”
