In a recent oversight, Respawn Entertainment confirmed that the Apex Legends Season 23 update failed to mention a significant change: Charge Rifles can now break down doors. The update, which launched on November 5, introduced numerous gameplay and balance adjustments, including new perks for support legends and weapon tweaks.

However, players discovered the Charge Rifles’ newfound ability on their own, sparking confusion and discussions across social media. After a brief period of silence, Respawn addressed the issue, apologizing for the missing patch note and providing clarity on the change, which has since become a key part of the ongoing update’s strategic impact.

In the Apex Legends Season 23 update, Respawn Entertainment confirmed that Charge Rifles now have the ability to break down doors, a feature that was not initially mentioned in the patch notes.

Players discovered this change themselves, which sparked confusion and led to discussions on social media. Many players questioned whether this was a hidden feature from previous seasons or something newly added.

Respawn addressed the oversight on Twitter, apologizing for the missing patch note. “Oops! We missed a patch note,” the developer stated, clarifying that the Charge Rifles’ ability to break doors is a new feature introduced in the From the Rift update.

Despite the explanation, some fans were upset, with one player expressing they’d avoid using Charge Rifles until the feature reverted to its previous version.

Other Notable Changes in the Season 23 Update

Along with the Charge Rifles’ new door-breaking ability, Apex Legends’ Season 23 update brought several significant weapon balance changes.

The L-STAR EMG received a damage boost, and its functionality improved with gold magazines, lowering cooldowns more effectively. Additionally, both the Longbow and Spitfire LMGs had their damage increased, while adjustments were made to the Rampage LMG and Sentinel, including automatic reloading after charging with a Thermite grenade or Shield Cell.

The update also introduced new perks for support legends, enhancing their gameplay. Support characters can now move at full speed while healing, benefit from faster healing with small med kits, and enjoy quicker revive times with health regeneration.

The update also included quality-of-life improvements, such as a better HUD for health and shield status, faster Mobile Respawn Beacon deployment, and more responsive smoke visuals.
