The Dodgers’ star, Shohei Ohtani, underwent surgery after having a labrum tear surgery following a fall while sliding into second base during Game 2 of the World Series played on October 26 against New York Yankees. His efforts were marred in this series, but he completed the five-game match which the Dodgers won and got the championship. The player is expected to recover sufficiently to join spring training set in February

Ohtani was injured when he tried to steal second base and suffered a labrum tear while dislocating his shoulder.

Despite the immense pain he was in, he played the next three games. In those three games, he went 1 for 11 at the plate with one walk. “His presence was galvanizing for a lineup that had relied on his production all season,” the Associated Press said.

He had surgery by the head physician of the Dodgers, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, in a hospital in Los Angeles. Ohtani was said by the team “to be ready for spring training in February.” He is now supposed to feature with the Dodgers in the Tokyo Series in March.

Review of Seasonal Performance as a Pitcher

Ohtani had a record-breaking 2024 season, becoming “the first player to have at least 50 homers and 50 stolen bases in the same season,” it calls to his rare talent as a two-way player. The 30-year-old recently signed a massive $700 million contract with the Dodgers for ten years.

It is still unknown how this surgery will affect Ohtani’s pitching career. The righty had surgery on the elbow that he threw from last offseason, and it kept him off the mound throughout 2024.

Whether he will pitch in 2025 or not is still undetermined, but his perseverance and record-breaking performance make everyone hopeful for his return to pitching.
