Jason Derulo’s Son Is His Cutest Critic for Music and Fashion

Jason Derulo may be a global music star, but at home, his toughest critic is none other than his son, Jason King. The three-year-old doesn’t hold back on sharing his opinions, whether it’s about his dad’s new songs or his fashion choices. Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Nov. 6, Derulo opened up about his son’s candid reviews and why he values his son’s input.

“Yeah, he’s the new A&R,” Derulo jokes, explaining that Jason King is quick to say if he’s not a fan. The “Slow Low” singer, who shares his son with model Jena Frumes, finds the honesty refreshing.

“Sometimes you gotta let your kids do the work because they don’t know how to lie yet,” Derulo added. If his son doesn’t like a song, Derulo knows it’s time to go back to the drawing board.

Jason King’s Fashion Advice Is Just as Blunt

But it’s not just music where Jason King shares his opinions. The toddler also has strong views on his dad’s wardrobe. “If I ask, ‘Bubba, what do you think of this outfit?’ he’ll be like, ‘Nah, uh-uh,’” Derulo said. His son’s blunt honesty is something the singer appreciates, knowing he can trust Jason to tell it like it is.

According to Derulo, adults might give polite feedback, but Jason King is direct. “A random person will say, ‘Oh yeah, it’s cool,’ but my son? He’ll be straight up,” Derulo shared with a laugh.

The father-son duo’s bond is evident, and Derulo enjoys Jason King’s involvement in his career, even if it means a little tough love. His son’s instinctive reactions help Derulo stay grounded and connected to his audience in a unique way.
