Excitement is building in the Star Wars universe as fans eagerly await the *The Mandalorian and Grogu* movie, which is set for a theatrical release on May 22, 2026.
Originally intended to continue as a fourth season on Disney Plus, The Mandalorian shifted to a feature film format after production delays. While reports claimed filming wrapped in October 2024, new sources suggest the journey isn’t over yet, with filming potentially extending into December.
Contradictory Filming Wrap Reports
According to the reports, the movie *The Mandalorian and Grogu* finished filming in October. But sources explained further conflicting information to The Bespin Bulletin, one saying “filming would likely run nearly two months” past October but another stating it could be done by the end of December.
They theorized that, “principal photography may be complete,” which is why some believe shooting had been wrapped, yet more filming still awaits.
On another note, The Bespin Bulletin mentioned that there were finished parts of certain actors and that this is already believed to have ended the production shoot, but insiders hinted about the possible reshoots that have become a “standard practice.” The bottom line here, though, is not certain yet if the focus of reshoots will still be on shooting some extra scenes until the year-end.
Stunt Performer Hints at Filming Continuation
More information on the shooting was given by The Mandalorian stuntman Lateef Crowder. Through Instagram stories, Crowder published pictures of himself driving with stickers of The Mandalorian on it, captioning them “Bom dia.” Based on this, the Bespin Bulletin concluded that it showed that Crowder is still working on the movie. However, the performer never confirmed this. According to the publication, “The Mandalorian and Grogu is still a few weeks away from fully wrapping.”
As for now, it seems like The Mandalorian and Grogu is on schedule to hit that May 2026 deadline, an important benchmark since Star Wars projects have seen delays before.
