The debut of Glitched, a new LAN gaming festival that aims to revive the classic LAN experience, by former DreamHack business executives Martin Öjes, Christoffer Melin, and Tomas Lyckedal, is an exciting development for the gaming community. Glitched, which is slated to take place at Elmia in Jönköping, Sweden, from June 13 to June 16, 2025, aims to break attendance and participation records while fostering an engaging atmosphere for gamers of all ages.
Revitalizing the LAN Experience
The goal of Glitched is to redefine the possibilities for LAN festivals. The event will include exhibition spaces, educational activities, and esports tournaments with an emphasis on creating an immersive experience. Since many players now have better settings at home than in the past, the organizers are especially interested in improving the LAN experience itself.
This idea was highlighted by Martin Öjes, who said, “In recent years, an incredible amount has happened in esports and gaming.” Sadly, the idea of LANs has become stagnant. We wish to rectify that immediately. The festival’s goal is to bring people together with partners to jointly reimagine what a LAN event can be in 2025.
In addition to serving competitive gamers, the inaugural Glitched festival will also welcome families and anyone who are new to the gaming community. The organizers want to bring back the thrill of LAN events and draw thousands of guests by creating an inclusive atmosphere.
A Community-Centric Approach
The dedication of Glitched to community interaction is one of its most notable qualities. The organizers intend to extend an invitation to attendees to offer feedback on the festival’s content and activities. Attendee engagement is being prioritized in event planning, which is reflected in this participatory approach.
In order to provide a full experience for all guests, Glitched’s long-term goal is to become a yearly event that blends LAN gaming with a variety of entertainment alternatives. A Counter-Strike 2 competition will also be held as part of the event, carrying on the tradition of competitive gaming that has defined Jönköping’s esports past.
With further partnerships and content announcements scheduled for later this year, and ticket sales anticipated to begin in the fall of 2024, anticipation is growing for what looks to be a historic event for both domestic and foreign gamers.
Glitched is proof of the continued attraction of local multiplayer gaming (LAN gaming) and the room for innovation in this cherished format as it gets ready for its first festival in 2025. Because of the founders’ commitment to building a lively community, Glitched will not only pay tribute to its forebears but also open doors for upcoming gaming generations.
