Payday 2: Crimewave Edition on PS Plus Lacks Popular DLCs

Payday 2: Crimewave Edition on PS Plus disappoints fans with missing popular DLC content

Payday 2 PS Plus Adds Crimewave Edition Minus DLCs

On September 30, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition was added to PlayStation Plus Extra, allowing subscribers to enjoy the hit co-op heist game. However, this version of the game has drawn attention for missing some beloved content. Developer Overkill Software released patch 1.54 alongside its arrival, which removed certain licensed DLCs due to expired licences, notably affecting new players who download the game.

Despite the update, existing players who had already purchased the Crimewave Edition before September 30 will still have access to the removed DLCs, but new subscribers will be missing some of the most iconic expansions.

Removed DLC Content Affects New Players

Payday 2 is a cooperative first-person shooter developed by Overkill Software and published by 505 Games.

It’s the sequel to Payday: The Heist, released in 2011. Payday 2 came out in August 2013 for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

A better version, called the Crimewave Edition, was launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June 2015, and later for the Nintendo Switch in February 2018.

Patch 1.54, released the same day Payday 2: Crimewave Edition hit PS Plus Extra, removes popular licensed content like the John Wick and Point Break DLC packs.

These packs, which were previously available for free, will no longer be accessible to new players, making the current version of the game inferior to what was originally released in 2015.

While the exact list of removed content isn’t fully clear, speculation suggests that these major DLC packs were the most significant losses, leaving many fans disappointed.

Existing Players Unaffected by Patch

For those who already owned Payday 2: Crimewave Edition prior to the update, the removal of content doesn’t apply.

Players who had purchased the game and its licensed DLC before September 30 can still enjoy everything they previously owned.

On the flip side, new players who access Payday 2 via PS Plus Extra will miss out on the full experience, although they can still enjoy the game’s base content and remaining DLCs.
