Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Wild Card expansion for Star Wars Outlaws will be released on November 21, 2024. This expansion is set to introduce new missions and gameplay elements, along with a free DLC update that promises to enhance the overall player experience.
What to Expect from the Wild Card Expansion
The much anticipated release date for the Lando-focused “Wild Card” DLC expansion for Star Wars Outlaws has been announced, along with some more free stuff for users. In late August 2024, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment published Star Wars Outlaws, allowing players to take on the role of ambitious thief Kay Vess and her growing gang of outlaws as they explore the criminal underworld of the Outer Rim.
The majority of reviews for Star Wars Outlaws were favorable when it was first released, however Ubisoft just revealed that sales haven’t quite lived up to publisher expectations.
However, story-based DLC is still being planned by Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment to add to the already expansive universe of Star Wars Outlaws.
The first piece of this new content was a side quest that had Kay’s droid sidekick ND-5 attempting to settle a debt with the notorious Tatooine mobster Jabba the Hutt. However, this caused controversy because it was initially exclusive to the Season Pass for the game. “Wild Card” and “A Pirate’s Fortune,” two more DLC packs for Star Wars Outlaws, are now confirmed.
Free DLC Launching Alongside Expansion
Ubisoft revealed the official release date for the former this week (via VGC). The “Wild Card” DLC expansion for Star Wars Outlaw, which will be available on November 21, will see Kay sneak into a high-stakes Sabacc tournament alongside the infamous scoundrel Lando Calrissian. Along with this new story quest, Ubisoft also announced that new Contract missions, free content, will be published on the same date for all Star Wars Outlaws players.
Lando really makes an appearance in the base Star Wars Outlaws, much like the previously mentioned Jabba. However, he does so as an Expert who can bestow additional powers upon Kay upon successfully finishing a particular sidequest and meeting certain requirements.
When she assists the well-known gambler on Akiva in retrieving his fortunate Sabacc token, she is able to access a new card game and stealth-based skill tree. Star Wars Outlaws is a prequel to The Empire Strikes Back, taking place between Lando’s remorseful betrayal of Han Solo and his help in saving his friend from Jabba at the start of Return of the Jedi.
Availability on Steam
The November 21 release date is significant not only for the expansion but also marks Star Wars Outlaws debut on Steam. Previously available exclusively on Ubisoft’s platform and the Epic Games Store, this move aims to broaden access to the game and attract a larger player base.
Ubisoft has committed to ongoing improvements for Star Wars Outlaws, including optimization updates based on player feedback. Creative director Julian Gerighty noted that they are actively analyzing gameplay data to identify areas for enhancement, particularly in combat and stealth mechanics.
