In an exciting sneak peek, Netflix has unveiled the first look at the highly anticipated second season of Wednesday, featuring Jenna Ortega as the iconic Wednesday Addams. Set to premiere in 2025, this season promises to delve deeper into the eerie and captivating world of Nevermore Academy. With hints of darker storylines and new characters, the creators are gearing up for a season that is described as “bigger and more twisted” than ever before.

A Glimpse Behind the Scenes

The recently released behind-the-scenes footage provides fans with an exclusive look at the making of Season 2. Cast members, including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, share their excitement about returning to their roles while teasing some of the thrilling moments to come.

Fans can expect to see familiar faces from Season 1, alongside new characters that will join Wednesday’s journey. The showrunners have hinted at the entire Addams family enrolling at Nevermore Academy, setting the stage for more complex interactions and storylines.

Ortega revealed that the reason for White and Ogawa’s disappearance in the upcoming season is because the show is “ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday” in an interview with Elle Fanning for Variety’s bi-annual Actors on Actors in 2023.

“We’ve made the decision to focus a little bit more on the horror element of the show,” she said. “You don’t want to take yourself too seriously in a show like this with vampires, werewolves, and superpowers because it is so lighthearted.”

Darker Themes and Storylines

Luis Guzmán, who plays Gomez Addams in the Netflix series, welcomed fans back with the memorable line “Hello, my little storm cloud” in a featurette that was released on Friday, September 20. The scene then jumps to Jenna Ortega’s character Wednesday Addams, who is the title character, saying, “Let’s play dolls,” while brandishing a knife.

With a commitment to exploring more sinister elements, Season 2 aims to deepen its horror aspects while maintaining the show’s signature humor. Jenna Ortega has indicated that this season will focus less on romantic interests and more on the chilling adventures that await Wednesday.

The return of fan favorite characters

As filming progresses, excitement continues to build for the release of Wednesday Season 2. With Tim Burton returning as director and a talented cast in place, fans eagerly await what promises to be an unforgettable continuation of Wednesday Addams’ story.

Season 2 of the horror series will feature appearances by Guzmán, Ortega, Zeta-Jones, Ordonez and Myers, Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley, Christopher Lloyd, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Fred Armisen, Thandiwe Newton, Victor Dorobantu, Billie Piper, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, Frances O’Connor, Joonas Suotamo, and Jamie McShane.

Season 1 regulars Naomi J. Ogawa (who played Yoko Tanaka) and Percy Hynes White (who played Xavier Thorpe and had announced his departure) are absent from that list. Cartoonist Charles Addams developed the characters for the renowned comic series, which subsequently aired as a television show in the 1960s. Since then, its popularity has resulted in other film and television adaptations, such as the 1991 feature The Addams Family. The Wednesday spinoff on Netflix debuted in 2022 and became popular right away with its first season.

You may currently watch Wednesday’s first season on Netflix.
