Riot Games has officially unveiled the highly anticipated soundtrack for the second season of its acclaimed animated series, Arcane. In collaboration with Virgin Music Group, the soundtrack will feature an impressive lineup of musical artists, including Twenty One Pilots, Stray Kids, and Stromae, among others. Each track is an original composition inspired by the show’s narrative, adding a unique auditory layer to the viewing experience.
A Diverse Musical Lineup
The soundtrack boasts contributions from a variety of artists, reflecting Riot’s commitment to musical diversity. In addition to Twenty One Pilots, known for hits like “Stressed Out” and “Heathens,” the album includes tracks from Ashnikko, Freya Ridings, Marcus King, Stefflon Don, Raja Kumari, Fever 333, and many more. This eclectic mix ensures that the soundtrack will resonate with a wide audience, appealing to fans of different musical genres.
Maria Egan, Global Head of Music at Riot Games, highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the project: “Arcane’s groundbreaking approach to music inspired an incredibly diverse group of artists from many genres, languages, and cultures who wanted to be part of this new season. Each song was a unique collaboration between the artists, our showrunners, and Riot’s composers.”
Continuing a Musical Legacy
The first season of Arcane was a massive success, with its soundtrack achieving over 5.6 billion streams on Spotify. The standout track, “Enemy” by Imagine Dragons featuring JID, became a cultural phenomenon, amassing more than 1.5 billion streams alone. Riot Games has a history of integrating music into its gaming universe, having previously launched the K-pop group K/DA and collaborated with various artists for its annual League of Legends World Championships.
The inclusion of Stray Kids further underscores Riot’s growing connection with the K-pop industry, following previous successful collaborations with K-pop artists for major events. This trend reflects a broader strategy by Riot to engage diverse global audiences through music.
Scheduled for release on November 23, 2024, the Arcane Season 2 soundtrack is already generating excitement among fans. The first single, “Pain the Town Blue” by Ashnikko, has been released, setting the stage for the full album. The combination of original music and compelling storytelling promises to deepen the emotional connection viewers have with the characters and their journeys.
