The enduring daytime sensation from ABC News will launch its 28th season on Tuesday, September 3. There will be one significant change soon, even while the panelists—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin—remain the same. “Y’all know we’re moving, right?” A new trailer for the show, which PEOPLE can only premiere, features Goldberg saying.
The final episode of season 28 gave the hint
Those who watched the last episode of season 27 on August 2 are undoubtedly aware of the change. At that point, Hostin revealed the program would be moving from its Upper West Side location to the Walt Disney Company’s newly finished 22-story Manhattan headquarters in Hudson Square, downtown New York City.
“After ten years and 2,143 episodes, this is the last episode of the season and the last show we will produce from this studio. We’re excited to be relocating to a brand-new studio downtown, but we’re sad to be leaving,” Hostin remarked, describing the area as “state of the art.”
Season 28 promo in the ‘new studio’
The View taped from a different studio down the same street in the same area prior to its ten-year run on the Upper West Side. The program shared a building with ABC soap operas such as One Life to Live and All My Children. Since the trailer doesn’t show off the new studio, it’s unclear if The View will get a new set to go with it. Nonetheless, it does feature Farah Griffin, Hostin, Navarro, Goldberg, Behar, Haines, and Haines moving boxes to their “fabulous new home.”
Haines confirms that The View is going, saying, “We’re moving downtown to the hottest new studio to match our hot topics.” Hostin concurs.Behar gives up easily as Navarro carries her adorable puppy ChaCha in a box. “I’m not going to be carrying these boxes,” the comedian remarks. “Let Alyssa do it!” Farah Griffin replies, “Sure,” as she approaches each person with two boxes instead of one. “Heavy lifting is nothing new to me. On The View, I’m a republican,” she quips.
Since August 11, 1997, The View has been a part of ABC’s daytime programming schedule. Over the years, the program, which was founded by the renowned broadcast journalist Barbara Walters, has included a number of co-hosts, including Candace Cameron Bure, Meghan McCain, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie O’Donnell, Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy, and Raven-Symoné.
