Last month, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) competed to sign Yoro, ultimately finalizing a transfer deal worth up to £59 million for the center-back from LOSC Lille. Leny Yoro is unfortunately set to miss these Manchester United matches due to an injury in his foot.

The 18-year-old made his unofficial debut in a 2-0 friendly win over Rangers. However, he sustained a metatarsal injury in a 2-1 pre-season loss to Arsenal on July 27. The match was played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. He is expected to be out for about three months.

Yoro will miss Manchester United’s FA Community Shield match against Manchester City on August 10 due to his foot injury. He is expected to be out for at least 10 league games. This includes fixtures against Liverpool and Chelsea at home.

Additionally, Yoro will miss one or two EFL Cup matches and the first three UEFA Europa League games for Manchester United. He opened up about his setback, expressing how unexpected this was.

“This is not the start I wanted, but that’s football… The operation went well. Thank you for your many messages of support. Now, time for patience and rehabilitation work. See you soon, stronger.” Yoro wrote on X.

Jadon Sancho likely to play as the next striker for Manchester

Following Rasmus Hojlund’s hamstring injury, Jadon Sancho was used as a striker in two recent pre-season games for Manchester United. After the team’s 3-0 pre-season loss to Liverpool, there seems less chances of Sancho continuing as the striker.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was questioned about the possibility of Sancho continuing in the striker role next season.

“Yes, otherwise we wouldn’t play with him there. That is what we can do if we don’t have the availability of Rasmus, but of course, Joshua Zirkzee, he is coming in, he has started training, but also consider that he is not so long in training, so that will take time, and he has to adapt to English football and our way of playing as well.” Erik said.
